Introduction

This aim of this article is to tell you all you need to know on how to convert your foreign driver's licence to a Philippines driving licence.

Note that I do not describe the extra steps required if your foreign licence is not in English, as I have no experience of this.

This article gives step-by-step instructions on how to get started on our Tradesperson Scheme.

1) The first step is to register on angelescity.expatlife.net, if you haven't done so already. If you get the message 'PAGE NOT FOUND', this means that you are already registered and logged in! Make sure to answer the questions on the online registration. Note that you will have to wait until your online registration is confirmed before you can log in and complete the next steps.

trades

The ACEL (Angeles City Expat Life) Tradesperson Scheme, planned to be launched some time in November 2019, is an attempt to create a directory of honest, competent, reliable tradespersons that can be called upon by members of this Group.

Having lived in Angeles City I have found a pattern of behavior with many local workers, namely:

1) Prices creeping up with each successive job.

2) Refusing to give a price until after they have finished the job.

3) Refusing to give a figure for the travelling expenses required.

trades

Anyone registering as a tradesperson on this site, namely angelescity.expatlife.net, agrees to abide by the following conditions, and accepts that if they fail to follow the rules/conditions they will be removed as a registered supplier.

The rules are:

1) All tradespersons must either quote a daily or hourly rate for their work on the website, or else agree to give a FREE quote for the agreed work.

2) All tradespersons accept that their work may be commented on, and sometimes there may be negative feedback as well as positive.

website

More good news! I've now completed a rebuild of the Angeles City Expat Life Website, which will allow, in due course, a booking system, payment system, and various other enhancements.

While I am able to port the details of existing users onto the new system, they will require to login and enter their own new password.

Therefore, over the next few days, existing users will be sent an email asking them to log in and enter a new password. Please wait for that email.

meter moved

Some more good news about the Clubhouse. The Electricity people finally arrived out of the blue, and ten minutes later the meter was moved. This means that the big wire running through the Media room and Bar can now be removed, and the furnishing can be completed.

Now that this obstacle has now been removed we should be able to start hosting Events in a matter of weeks.

Table Tennis Room Aircon

A small piece of good news on the Clubhouse. The two air-cons have finally been installed in the Table Tennis Room and the Media Room.

Shortly, the builders will finish their latest batch of work (installing cabinets etc), while we wait (impatiently) for the Electricity Company to turn up.

This means that soon we'll be able to start a limited number of Events, initially Table Tennis, with a few others to follow, such as Pool, snooker and darts

it's short of the full opening we were hoping for if the Electricity Company had decided to show up, but its a start!

badminton

This is an update for anyone who would like to play badminton in Angeles City. My research has brought up 3 venues within the Angeles City area, although there may well be others that are not well advertised. Firstly there is Hardicourt Badminton Center, situated in Angeles City:

Also, outside Angeles City, in Telabastagan, there is Smash Power Badminton Center, which I have visited and has many courts at a reasonable price. It's only downside is that it is just outside Angeles City.
