Introduction to the ACEL Tradesperson Scheme

trades

The ACEL (Angeles City Expat Life) Tradesperson Scheme, planned to be launched some time in November 2019, is an attempt to create a directory of honest, competent, reliable tradespersons that can be called upon by members of this Group.

Having lived in Angeles City I have found a pattern of behavior with many local workers, namely:

1) Prices creeping up with each successive job.

2) Refusing to give a price until after they have finished the job.

3) Refusing to give a figure for the travelling expenses required.

4) Revealing that they haven't got any tools, forcing you to buy them.

5) Asking for money half way through a job.

6) Quoting for a job then asking for more money later.

7) Sometimes not turning up after completing half a job.

We are hoping that by promoting and helping local workers who are prepared to follow the rules and work in a professional manner, we can create a situation both to the benefit of the worker and the customer.

Tradespersons will be required to either state their rates upfront or agree to give a free quote for the work, thus giving a level of transparency that is sometimes lacking.

The trades-person may move through the stages to become an 'approved' supplier as follows:

1) When the trades-person first registers, he will be given 'New, Unchecked' status

2) The information given by the registrant will be checked for completeness and for meeting the rules, then will be given status 'New, Checked'.

3) Once we have a reasonable level of confidence that the trades-person is genuine he/she will be given the status 'Fully Registered'.

4) Finally, once the trades-person has built up a sufficiently good reputation they will be given 'Approved' status.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In order for this scheme to work we will require both trades-persons to register, and customers to give feedback, so we are planning to add some incentives to encourage this, in order to help get the scheme started.
